The 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class treats drivers to upscale content and a plush cabin. Also, its handling is flawlessly refined, and it provides a diverse range of engine choices.
Mercedes-Benz’s C-Class is a compact luxury car, and it’s available as either a five-passenger sedan or a four-passenger coupe. Sedans are sold in C300, C400, C63 AMG and C63 S AMG trim levels. Coupes are sold in three trims: C250, C350 and C63 AMG. Both all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive are offered.
Updating the roster one body style at a time, Mercedes-Benz has redesigned the C-Class sedan for 2015. The coupe carries over with only minor changes.
The 2015 C-Class sedan shows off an athletic, streamlined exterior design. Bold bodyside sculpting and prominent fenders add to the effect. The coupe features crisp lines and a rounded roof.
Base-model C-Class sedans come with automatic headlights, daytime running lights, 17-inch wheels, rain-sensing windshield wipers and heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals. Options include a rear spoiler, 18- or 19-inch wheels, adaptive LED headlights and a power-closing trunk. A panoramic sunroof is standard for the coupe and optional for the sedan.
A detailed, modern-looking interior is part of the package with the redesigned C-Class sedan. The dashboard sets the tone, with a futuristic, freestanding infotainment display, circle-shaped climate vents and a long, flowing center console. Reflecting the fact that it’s a carryover from last year, the coupe’s interior design isn’t quite as contemporary as the sedan’s. Coupes have a trunk capacity of 11.7 cubic feet. With sedans, the trunk accommodates 12.6 cubic feet of cargo.
The C-Class comes standard with a tilt-and-telescoping steering column, dual-zone automatic climate control, 10-way power-adjustable front seats, simulated leather upholstery and a 60/40-split folding rear seat. Options include heated and ventilated front seats, leather upholstery and ambient cabin lighting.
The C-Class provides smooth, agile handling, and its range of engines includes some potent choices. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available. All models are governed by seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
A turbocharged 2.0-liter engine is standard in the C300 sedan. It’s a four-cylinder unit that makes 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The C400 sedan features a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that produces 329 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque.
With the C63 AMG sedan, power comes from a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 good for 469 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. The range-topping C63 S AMG trim uses the same engine as the C63 AMG, tuned to produce 503 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
The C250 coupe is equipped with a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that supplies 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque, while the C350 taps a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 that produces 302 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Within the coupe lineup, the most potent engine is found in the C63 AMG trim: a 6.3-liter V8 good for 451 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque.
EPA-rated fuel economy for the 2015 C-Class tops out at 25/33 mpg city/highway.
Mercedes-Benz has equipped the C-Class with premium tech features. Base models come with a 7-inch display, Bluetooth phone and streaming audio, moble Wi-Fi, USB connectivity and a stereo with a CD player.
Options include a 13-speaker Burmester stereo, a rearview camera, navigation, voice recognition, an 8.4-inch display screen, front and rear parking sensors, a head-up display, a self-parking system, forward collision mitigation, a blind-spot monitor, lane-keeping assistance and rear cross-traffic alert.
"C300 engine runs very smooth. It is very easy to maneuver with sharp turns, nice interior features. It is very expensive to maintain. The average gas cost at the highest level petroleum runs between $45-$65."
The seats are very comfortable.
Good starting speed, but could improve on the start from 0-60 mph.
Its more suited for individuals ride not family, because of the body size is not big enough.
"Fun to drive, quick and sporty options are fun. Driver assist options have saved me from several wrecks, so money well spent. Lots of leg room front and back. And interior is beautiful." Read Less
