The 2019 BMW 3 Series is a compact car that competes in the luxury segment. It’s available as a sports sedan, a wagon or a four-door hatchback known as the 3 Series Gran Turismo. Sedans are offered in four trims: 330i, 330i xDrive, M340i and M340i xDrive. Wagons come solely in the 330i xDrive trim, while the Gran Turismo is sold in 330i xDrive and 340i xDrive trims. Both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive (xDrive) are available.
For 2019, the BMW 3 Series sedan has been redesigned. The wagon and Gran Turismo models carry over unchanged from last year.
Whether you choose the sedan, hatchback or wagon, the 2019 BMW Series boasts an exterior design that melds elegance with athleticism. All three models feature a bulging hood that’s ridged with handsome character lines. BMW’s familiar split grille takes center stage on the front fascia. Gran Turismo models have a rounded roofline, and this gives the car a sporty, coupe-like look.
Base-model sedans are equipped with automatic LED headlights, LED taillights, 18-inch alloy wheels and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The list of options includes adaptive headlights, bespoke door-sill strips, LED fog lights and 19-or 20-inch wheels.
Within its cabin, the 3 Series features the same sleek styling cues seen in its exterior design. With sedans, an asymmetric dashboard complements an angled center stack. A wide, attractively designed center console houses a rounded shifter that’s placed close to the driver. All throughout, the sedan’s cabin is meticulously crafted utilizing high-quality materials.
Sedans offer 17 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk. With the wagon, cargo capacity stands at 17.5 cubic feet with all seats in place and 53 cubic feet with the second row lowered. Gran Turismo models lead the pack when it comes to cargo space, offering 24.6 cubic feet with the rear seats in place and 56.8 cubic feet with these seats lowered.
The 3 Series sedan comes with a list of standard equipment that includes three-zone automatic climate control, LED reading and interior lights and split-folding rear seats. Options include wood interior accents, leather upholstery and ambient interior lighting in a variety of colors.
The 3 Series offers the crisp, rewarding performance you’d expect from this respected luxury carmaker. With the sedan, rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available. All wagons and Gran Turismo hatchbacks are all-wheel drive. The sedan, wagon, and hatchback are all governed by an eight-speed automatic transmission.
With the sedan, 330i and 330i xDrive models are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine good for 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Stepping up to the M340i and M340i xDrive gets you a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine that produces 382 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.
BMW 3 Series wagon and Gran Turismo 330i xDrive models come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder good for 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.
