The 2020 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a luxurious compact sedan. It’s for drivers who want high-end features, opulent design, and the latest technology. Buyers also get available high-performance engines and all-wheel drive.
What Makes It Unique?
The C-Class’ upscale materials and design are more than enough to make it stand out as one of the better luxury sedans on the market.
Genesis G70: The value option of the class, it’s offered with a manual transmission.
Volvo S60: Features a serene ride and is offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

2020 Mercedes-Benz C-Class vs. Older C-Classes
Mercedes-Benz hasn’t refreshed the C-Class since the 2015 model year. That means any C-Class sedan from 2015 to 2020 will look similar and have similar features, so you could save money by choosing a used C-Class.
The AMG C 43 is a good value, too; it’s a good entry point into the more powerful AMG line. Unless you want track-day performance from your sedan, we don’t recommend the AMG C 63 or C 63 S models. They’re incredibly expensive compared with a base C 300, and their performance potential can only be truly enjoyed on the track.
2020 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Performance
The C-Class has four engine options:
255-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission and rear- or all-wheel drive
385-horsepower turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with a 9-speed automatic and all-wheel drive
469-horsepower turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with a 9-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive
503-horsepower turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with a 9-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive
Compared with the class? The C-Class’ base engine is average for the compact class, but its available engines are some of the most powerful ones in the segment, particularly the 503-horsepower V8.
